Pleasantly surprised by this place during our stay at the Quail! We made a reservation here for Saturday dinner and it was pretty quiet. We chose a spot inside which seemed to be the move since the lakeside views were pretty but the water birds seemed to be a little too comfortable on the outdoor patio. I usually don't expect much from a hotel restaurant but the vibe here was elevated and everything we ate was really high quality. We started with the endive and pear salad with crispy prosciutto. So light and refreshing! Everything here was a delight to our eyes and taste buds. The scallops were also beautifully plates and cooked to perfection (according to my husband). For our mains, my husband went with the pork chop and I had the ricotta cavatelli with beef short rib. Oh my goodness that short rib was so tender, and the sauce on the pasta was rich and flavorful. I absolutely adore homemade pasta so this was a home run for me. My husband really enjoyed his pork chop but did note it might have been a bit over salted. Seasoning is subjective so I won't fault them for this because I think we generally prefer less salt than the typical palate at most restaurants. We finished off with dessert: blueberry pie and coconut panna cotta with candied pistachios and passion fruit. The panna cotta was delicious, don't get me wrong, but nothing beats a classic slice of pie. The blueberries were fresh and ripe and the crust of the pie was cooked perfectly, no burnt crusts here. Kudos to the pastry chef, I would come back just for the pie. Overall, highly recommend this spot if you're staying a the hotel. I know there's no shortage of restaurant options in downtown Carmel but Covey Grill is definitely worth a visit.

Beautiful setting great service and amazing food The restaurant was so accommodating as we had our dog and it was raining so they sat us in a special indoor area by a beautiful fireplace

Delicious food for dinner and wonderful service! At first the drinks were very small and our waiter told the bartender and he personally came to our table and remade them. We appreciate the service and the food was really delicious..the Branzino was perfectly cooked and the NY steak was nicely marbled and juicy and perfectly cooked to medium rare.

New chef is doing amazing things, food is wonderful, staff attentive. Would be nice to have larger portion sizes and more selection, for salad's, appetizer, and entree's, The only entree that have not cared for is the chicken dish, although apparently it is popular. Desserts are also fabulous.

Wow!! Impressed! Not only with Quail Lodge but the service and food at Covey Grill. Impeccable. We sat at the large private dining table in the back overlooking the lake for breakfast. Service was attentive with coffee and tea service. The menu had many options from healthy to indulgent. We had the honey yogurt with granola and a side pancake for a little decadence. The overnight oats with chia seeds, pine nuts, and fresh fruit was lightly sweet. The side of bacon perfectly crisp. The breakfast sandwich is hearty with a fried egg, cheese, choice of meat on a brioche bun. The frittata was full of spinach and veggies. The star dish was the avocado toast- I'm going to be dreaming about this one! Two huge pieces of artisan bread (my daughter said they tasted like Model Bakery bread) toasted with zatar butter topped with fresh avocado, herbs, radish, and cherry tomatoes with a drizzle of olive oil. Absolute perfection!

Stayed at the Quail Lodge and Golf Club, so we came here for breakfast one morning! Had such a great experience. We had our dog with us and were really happy to be able to bring her here with us since they have a nice outdoor seating area, which by the way, is beautiful! I started off by ordering a hot tea, which came out with a nice little jar of honey which was the perfect addition to the tea! They had some nice breakfast options here. I decided to go with the Quail Omelet. This included your choice of applewood smoked bacon (which I picked), sausage, or ham, spinach, tomato, caramelized onion, jack cheese, marble country potatoes, mixed greens salad, and toast. This was delicious! The service was wonderful and so was the entire experience. There were many people enjoying their meals outside with their dogs. It was a very friendly and relaxing environment and I'm so glad we came here. Looking forward to visiting again!

Review based on ordering take out whole staying at the quail. Decently priced for a hotel restaurant and the food was very good, although the side salads are really laughable, it's a few measly pieces of lettuce and some tomatoes. But the omelettes, breakfast sandwiches and french toast are very good. It's nice to have a tasty place to order from and to enjoy food in your room

We came here for dinner and breakfast. Both times were excellent. We had the ling cod, huevos rancheros and omelet for breakfast. All very good. The service was excellent too.

Date of Visit: 10/29/2022 We stayed a the Quail Lodge & Golf Club located in Carmel Valley during the last weekend of October. On Saturday night, we visited the Covey Grill located in the lobby. We chose to sit outside next to the fireplace and right in front of the lovely Mallard Pond. Lilikoi $16 I got the passion fruit cocktail which is tequila based, with passionfruit syrup and lime juice. The Fairway $15 Cocktail of the month is bourbon and ginger liqueur based, with lemon juice and honey syrup. Roasted Beets & Strawberry Salad $15 The beets and strawberry salad has arugula, frisee, green and red strawberries, and cheese on top. Grilled Whole Branzino $39 Highly recommend the simply grilled section on the menu. There are meats and seafood selections. I got the whole branzino which was very yummy. Steak Frites $35 There are a list of $35 Weekly Specials on different day of the week which is not on the menu. 8oz New York Steak with fries and salad. Highly recommend Covey Grill even if you are not staying at the Quail Lodge. The foods were great and the view was amazing too!
